The preparations for three-day long Kittur Utsav have been kick-started. Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil and Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled took stock of the preparations, especially the wrestling arena, boating facilities and different exhibition pandals.
This time too the Kittur Utsav will be celebrated with great pomp and decorum. The officials inspected various preparations including construction of stage, lake, wrestling arena, media centre, exhibition stall, food stall, cleaning of fort premises, parking, security etc on Tuesday.
Reviewing the preparations, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil instructed the officials to organise an exhibition, a fruit and flower show and a dog show on the fort premises, to decorate the fort and ensure cleanliness. LED screens will facilitate public viewing of the programme. The seats, drinking water, toilet and other infrastructure will be provided, he said.
All the preparations including construction of the main stage of the festival, wrestling arena, food arrangements, exhibition, and boating have been completed.
Teams of women carrying poorna kumbha, performance art troupes and tableaux will participate in the procession. Exhibition stalls will be set up on the fort premises. The sub-committees concerned will make necessary preparations, he said.
Singer Sanjit Hegde will perform on October 23, the first day of the festival. Similarly, on the second day of the festival, programmes have been reserved for women and singer Shamita Malnad will present a show. The events of the third day will be finalised soon, he said. District Superintendent of Police Dr Bhimashankar Guled said that tight security will be in place during the festival. The traffic management and parking arrangements will be made.
