LAM Research Plans Semiconductor Lab In Karnataka

Global semiconductor equipment and services provider, LAM Research, is contemplating the establishment of a state-of-the-art semiconductor lab in Karnataka, India. This development aligns with the efforts of Honourable Minister for Large and Medium Industries, Shri M B Patil, who is currently leading a delegation to the United States to attract investments into the state.

LAM Research has had a presence in Karnataka since 2000, with its Bengaluru campus specializing in hardware engineering, operations management, and software development support. Recently, the company secured approval for setting up Engineering, R&D, Testing, and Tool Prototyping facilities for semiconductor and display manufacturing, with a planned investment of Rs 236 crore. Furthermore, LAM Research intends to contribute to the growth of Indian suppliers and foster connections within Karnataka’s supplier ecosystem.

LeoLabs, a leading force in satellite operations transformation, is considering the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for space technology research in Karnataka. This initiative seeks to integrate LeoLabs into Karnataka’s burgeoning space ecosystem. Shri Dan Ceperley, Founder & CEO of LeoLabs, and Shri Rachit Bhatia, Lead, Space Safety Analytics & Research, discussed the proposal with Shri M B Patil. Tsecond, backed by Boeing and Solar Industries India Limited, expressed interest in establishing an R&D Centre in Bengaluru.

These discussions exemplify Karnataka’s commitment to fostering innovation and attracting investments in cutting-edge industries, further solidifying the state’s status as a hub for technological advancement.
