During the Gandhi Jayanti program at Bharat Jodo Bhavan, a Congress leader emphasized that the foundation laid by the Congress party, along with Gandhi’s philosophy and ideals, is invaluable to the nation.
The leader noted that this year marks a significant milestone, as it commemorates the centenary of the Belagavi session where Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle as the President of Congress. This event aims to educate the younger generation about Gandhiji’s vision and the contributions made by the Congress party.
He announced that a special AICC session will take place in Belgaum in the last week of December, inviting AICC leaders to participate. A committee of senior party leaders has been established to oversee the preparations.
Reflecting on the past, he recalled participating in the Dandi March during Deshpande’s presidency and highlighted the organization of today’s walk program in memory of that historic event.
Additionally, he mentioned plans for a special program in Kittur, commemorating Rani Chennamma’s struggle against British rule 200 years ago, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister at the Vidhan Soudha.
The leader urged party members to unite in their efforts to bring the Congress party back to power at the center by 2028, emphasizing that their work is focused on improving people’s lives through five implemented guarantee schemes, rather than engaging in emotionally driven politics.
