Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proclaimed that the principles of Gandhi’s Sarvodaya and Ambedkar’s Antyodaya guide the mission of his government. He made this statement during the celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and the Swachhata Andolan Pledge Ceremony organized by the BBMP at the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall.
Siddaramaiah noted that Mahatma Gandhi traveled extensively throughout rural India to understand the lives and challenges of the people. This knowledge informed his approach to the freedom struggle, which included enduring imprisonment in the pursuit of independence for the country. He recalled that the British departed India in 1947 after the Quit India movement.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government has created and implemented social and economic initiatives to realize the aspirations set forth in the Constitution by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He highlighted that these programs aim to provide financial independence to the poor and stressed that the country’s development relies on the progress of rural areas.
Siddaramaiah concluded by stating that the highest tribute to Gandhi is to act in accordance with our conscience, reminding everyone that the court of self-conscience holds the highest authority.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ministers Lakshmi Hebbalkar and H.K. Patil, former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily, and other notable dignitaries.
