Indian wrestler Sunil Kumar faced a 1-5 defeat against Iran’s Naser Alizadeh in the men’s 87kg Greco-Roman semifinal at the 19th Asian Games, setting up a bronze medal bout for him. Prior to this, the 24-year-old wrestler had advanced to the semifinals by defeating Sukhrob Abdulkhaev of Tajikistan with a convincing score of 9-1 in the quarterfinals. He had previously secured a 4-3 victory on points against China’s Peng Fei in the pre-quarterfinal. In other wrestling actions, Neeraj faced a 3-5 loss against Makhmud Bakhshilloev of Uzbekistan in the men’s 67kg 1/8 final, while Gyanender also suffered a 1-7 defeat against Meysam Dalkhani of Iran in the 60kg 1/8 final. Additionally, Vikas experienced a Technical Superiority (TSU) loss to China’s Liu Rui in the 77kg quarterfinals.
