Indian Mixed Doubles Squash Pair Wins Bronze

The Indian mixed doubles squash pair of 15-year-old Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh secured a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games after suffering a 1-2 loss against the Malaysian pair Aifa Binti Azman and Mohd Syafiq Kamal in the semifinal. The Indians put up a tough fight but went down 11-8, 2-11, 9-11 to the Malaysians in the deciding game. Earlier, the mixed team of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh advanced to the final with a 2-1 win over Lee Ya Ki and Wong Chi Him of Hong Kong. Dipika and Harinder secured a 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 victory in the semifinal, earning a spot in the gold medal match. Notably, mixed doubles squash made its debut at the Asian Games 2022. Dipika has a successful history in squash, having won titles in Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles at the World Doubles Championships, while Harinder Pal has won a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles at the World Doubles Championships and was part of the Indian team that won gold in Team competition in Hangzhou. The Indian duo showed great confidence, recovering from a 0-3 deficit in the first game to secure the win. The mixed doubles squash gold medal match will take place on Thursday. India has already claimed a gold medal in the men’s team event and a bronze in the women’s team at the Hangzhou Games.
