India’s second ICC T20 World Cup triumph was reflected upon by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who expressed that the full realization of their victory had yet to sink in. He emphasized his intention to cherish every moment of the achievement.
The path to the title was characterized by exemplary death bowling from Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, supported by impactful performances from Virat Kohli and Axar Patel. Their efforts culminated in a thrilling seven-run victory over first-time finalists South Africa in Barbados.
In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit described the victory as surreal, feeling like a dream due to the team’s longstanding pursuit of this goal.
‘Yeah, the feeling is surreal. I would say it hasn’t fully sunk in yet. It’s been an incredible moment. From the moment the game ended until now, it feels like a dream. We still feel like it hasn’t happened, even though it has. That’s the emotion, that’s the feeling we have,’ Rohit expressed.
Rohit also mentioned the celebrations continued until the early morning, causing him to miss out on sleep, but he considered it a small sacrifice for such a significant victory.
‘We had a great time celebrating with teammates until the early hours. So, I didn’t get much sleep last night, but it’s okay. Moments like these are very special for all of us,’ Rohit concluded.
