In a harrowing incident, a 25-year-old data analyst from Kerala, Roshini Joseph, sustained injuries, including a broken right arm, after she was compelled to leap from a speeding auto-rickshaw in Pi Layout under the jurisdiction of Mahadevpur Police in Bengaluru on Saturday afternoon. Roshini, a resident of a paying guest facility near Hope Farm in Prashant Layout, had engaged the services of an auto-rickshaw near a gym in B Narayanpur with the intention of reaching Brindavan Layout in Vijinapur. As the journey progressed, Roshini noticed that the driver was taking an unfamiliar route rather than following the usual one. Growing suspicious, she requested the driver to halt the vehicle. However, when she sensed that the driver was accelerating recklessly, she made the daring decision to jump from the moving auto at around 2:45 pm near Pai Layout on ITPL Road. The abrupt escape resulted in severe injuries, necessitating four weeks of bed rest and rendering her unable to walk. Roshini recounted her ordeal, stating that the mapped journey duration had initially indicated just nine minutes, yet the driver had steered in an alternate direction for approximately 15 minutes. The road appeared deserted, and upon her exit from the auto, the driver rapidly departed the scene. She noted that the driver communicated in Hindi. With no immediate assistance available on the road, Roshini contacted her sister, who promptly rushed her to the hospital. The extent of her injuries included significant hip pain in addition to the broken right arm. Roshini clarified that she had been searching for a house as her mother intended to relocate and reside with her in the city. On the day of the incident, she had scheduled appointments to view houses in Mahadevpur. In response to Roshini’s complaint, the police examined the CCTV footage in the vicinity. Unfortunately, the registration number of the auto-rickshaw was not clearly visible in the footage.
