Neymar makes historic World Cup return

FLORIDA

Brazilian superstar Neymar shared an emotional social media message after making his highly anticipated debut at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, right as his nation secured a spot in the knockout rounds.

Following Brazil’s dominant 3-0 victory over Scotland, Neymar posted a powerful reminder on social media stating – “REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.” The legendary 34-year-old forward took the pitch for the first time since October 2023, coming off the bench in the 76th minute to replace Matheus Cunha. Neymar had missed the first two Group C matches due to a calf injury, which followed a grueling recovery from a major ACL tear. This appearance marks a historic milestone, making him one of the few Brazilians to play in four consecutive World Cups.

The match itself belonged to Brazil, who easily crushed Scotland to finish at the top of Group C with seven points, advancing alongside Morocco. Vinicius Junior was the undisputed star of the night, firing in a spectacular first-half brace. Cunha then added a third goal after halftime to seal the victory.

With his brilliant performance, Vinicius became the first Brazilian in 24 years to score in each of the country’s first three World Cup matches, matching the legendary 2002 records of Ronaldo and Rivaldo. While Brazil celebrates their grand entrance into the next stage, a defeated Scotland squad must wait anxiously to see if their three points will be enough to sneak through as a third-placed team.
