Leaders demand closure of illegal massage parlors

KPCC State Secretary K. Devendrappa led a delegation demanding the closure of illegal Shivamogga massage parlors, alleging they exploit women and promote illicit activities

A strong appeal has been made to local authorities to shut down illegal massage parlors and spas operating across the district. A delegation from the Indian National Trade Union Congress, led by KPCC State Secretary K. Devendrappa, met with police officials to demand immediate and permanent action against these businesses.

The group raised serious concerns about the rapid rise of unauthorized spas in Shivamogga city. They alleged that these centers are fronts for illegal activities where innocent young women are being exploited. Despite numerous complaints from the public, these parlors continue to thrive, leading the delegation to claim that some local officials might be protecting the racket.

According to the leaders, these establishments use daily discounts and deceptive marketing to lure in young men and women. Once inside, employees are reportedly cheated out of thousands of rupees, and many find themselves trapped in an “illegal business” environment. “These places are ruining lives and operating without any control,” the leaders stated during the meeting.

The petition, supported by several community representatives including Kavita Raghavendra and Murali Sannakki, calls for a full investigation into the owners and any involved officials. The group has urged the District Protection Officer to take the matter seriously to protect the youth of the city. They insist that simply fining these businesses is not enough; they must be closed for good to ensure the safety and dignity of the community.
