An FIR has been filed against MLA DN Jeevaraj following allegations of illegal tampering and fraud involving postal votes
CHIKKAMAGALURU
A serious legal battle has begun in the Sringeri constituency as an FIR was filed against local MLA DN Jeevaraj and two former high-ranking officials. The case involves allegations of illegal tampering with postal votes, sparking a major controversy in the region’s political landscape.
The complaint was lodged by Sudhir Kumar Murolli, who served as an agent during the postal vote counting process. According to the report filed at the Chikkamagaluru city police station, there were shocking security lapses involving the ballot papers. The complainant claims that the “strong room” where the votes were kept was not properly sealed. Even more concerning were reports that the trunk containing the actual ballot papers was found open, with its lock reportedly cut and the official seal broken.
Because of these findings, there is a strong suspicion that the votes were tampered with to influence the election results. Based on these serious claims, the police have registered a case of fraud, criminal conspiracy, and forgery. Along with MLA Jeevaraj, the then-Returning Officer Vedamurthy and former Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar have also been named in the investigation.
This development comes as a shock to the community, raising questions about the fairness of the counting process. While the accused have previously held official certificates of victory, this new criminal case puts those results under a cloud of doubt. Authorities are now expected to dive deeper into the evidence to see if the democratic process was truly compromised.
