At the 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards, Shah Rukh Khan paid an emotional tribute to late film legend Dilip Kumar. The actor remembered a touching moment from his early days in Mumbai, when Dilip Kumar told his wife, Saira Banu, “If we had a son, he would have been like Shah Rukh.”
Shah Rukh shared this memory while accepting the Cine Icon Award on behalf of Dilip Kumar. Saira Banu, unable to attend, had personally asked SRK to accept the honour. He said it was a privilege to be chosen for such a special task.
The ‘Dilwale’ star recalled being warmly welcomed by Dilip Sahab and Saira ji when he was new to the film industry. He said that their love and blessings have guided him through his journey.
Calling Dilip Kumar the greatest actor in Indian cinema, Shah Rukh said that many generations of actors continue to follow his path. The night also honoured actress Zeenat Aman and late filmmaker Shyam Benegal with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
It was a night full of memories and respect for the legends who shaped Bollywood. Shah Rukh’s heartfelt words touched everyone at the event.
