Oscar-nominated actress Mary McDonnell has lined up two exciting projects. As she will appear in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Vision and also star in the thriller One Second After.
In One Second After, directed by Scott Rogers, McDonnell joins Josh Holloway and Hannah John-Kamen. The film is based on William R. Forstchen’s 2009 sci-fi novel and is being produced by MPI Original Films and Startling Inc. McDonnell will play Jen, the sharp mother-in-law of John (played by Holloway), who steps in to care for his daughters after an electromagnetic pulse attack plunges society into chaos. The script has been penned by J. Michael Straczynski, and filming is set to begin in Sofia, Bulgaria, this month.
Meanwhile, details of McDonnell’s role in Vision remain under wraps. The series, created by Terry Matalas as a follow-up to WandaVision, has already completed principal photography. Paul Bettany returns as android Vision, while James Spader reprises his role as Ultron. The release date for the series has not yet been revealed.
McDonnell is celebrated for her versatility, with two Academy Award nominations for Dances With Wolves and Passion Fish. Her career includes memorable performances in Independence Day, Donnie Darko, Sneakers, and Scream 4, along with acclaimed TV roles in Battlestar Galactica, Major Crimes, The Closer, and ER. She was most recently seen in Carlyle Eubank’s film Broke.
With both a Marvel series and a gripping thriller ahead, McDonnell continues to expand her impressive body of work.
