Green Bengaluru Possible In 30 Years With Appropriate Measures

Special Commissioner of the Corporation’s Forest Division and Nodal Officer of Green Bengaluru, said that an effective plan should be prepared and implemented for the improvement of the city. Addressing a seminar held at RV Technical University regarding Green/Environment Bangalore under the Brand Bangalore project, he said that with the aim of making the city of Bangalore a green Bangalore, appropriate steps should be taken to effectively implement 7 projects under various themes in Brand Bangalore. Accordingly, entire Bangalore should be made green in next 25-30 years. He said that all the suggestions received from the citizens will be studied and consolidated and a good report will be submitted to the government. BBMP has already tied up with various educational institutes and given the responsibility of planting saplings to the students. He said that a plan has been devised to name the saplings permanently after the students. On this occasion, many resident welfare associations, civic and environmental activists participated in the seminar and gave suggestions. Ram Prasad, co-founder of Friends of Lake, said, Priority should be given to planting saplings in the public and private lands of the city, preventing polluted water from entering the lakes, 100% waste water treatment and decentralization of purification units.
