KSRTC Takes Action Following Repeated Violations On Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Highway

A series of unsettling incidents involving Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses traversing in the wrong direction and executing perilous U-turns on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Highway has prompted the corporation to address these transgressions with heightened concern. The gravity of these violations has led to an official directive for a comprehensive investigation. In a significant event last March, the Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Highway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a pivotal milestone in the region’s transportation infrastructure. With this inauguration, toll collection commenced, creating a necessary revenue stream for the upkeep of the highway. However, an alarming pattern has emerged wherein KSRTC buses deviate from their designated routes to evade toll collection, flagrantly disregarding established regulations. Recognizing the severity of the situation, KSRTC has taken decisive action by issuing a circular that explicitly underscores the importance of adherence to traffic regulations. The corporation’s message to its drivers is unequivocal: refrain from straying from designated routes and embrace responsible driving practices. Despite this communication, the disturbing trend persists, showcasing instances of erratic driving and non-compliance by KSRTC bus drivers. Several of these breaches have been captured on video, with some of the clips gaining widespread traction on social media platforms. In response to mounting concerns, KSRTC has taken a proactive stance, signaling its intention to initiate a thorough investigation into the reported violations. Shedding light on the corporation’s stance, Anbu Kumar, the Managing Director of KSRTC, acknowledged the existence of these videos circulating on social media platforms. He confirmed that a circular had indeed been dispatched to all drivers, emphasizing strict adherence to traffic norms.
