Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a significant milestone by taking his 400th wicket in international cricket, becoming the tenth Indian bowler to do so. He reached this achievement during the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, where he took 4 wickets for 50 runs in 11 overs.
In total, Bumrah has now claimed 401 wickets across 196 international matches, boasting an impressive average of 21.01 and a best bowling figure of 6 for 19. He is also the sixth Indian pacer to reach this landmark. His record includes 163 wickets in 37 Test matches, averaging 20.49 with ten five-wicket hauls. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he has taken 149 wickets at an average of 23.55, while in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), he has secured 89 wickets with an average of 17.74.
In the match itself, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field. India initially struggled at 34 for 3, but a strong partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant helped stabilize the innings. Eventually, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja formed a crucial 199-run partnership, allowing India to reach 376 runs. In response, Bangladesh faced regular setbacks, with Bumrah and Akash Deep leading the bowling attack to restrict their batting efforts.
