In a swift operation, the Lokayukta police apprehended a head constable and his accomplice on Sunday for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The arrested police constable has been identified as Mahesh (43), stationed at the Cyber ​​Crimes, Economic Crimes, and Narcotics (CEN) police station in Ramnagar. According to the Lokayukta police, Mahesh had demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh from Manje Gowda, a resident of Bengaluru, in exchange for assistance with a three-year-old case registered at the Ramanagara CEN police station. Sensing the severity of the situation, Manje Gowda lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta. Promptly responding to the complaint, the Lokayukta devised a trap, setting it in a party hall in Bangalore. During the operation, Ramesh of Uttarahalli accepted Rs 50,000 from Manje Gowda on behalf of Mahesh, resulting in the duo being caught red-handed. Subsequently, both individuals were taken into custody by the police.
