In a swift operation, the Lokayukta police apprehended a head constable and his accomplice on Sunday for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The arrested police constable has been identified as Mahesh (43), stationed at the Cyber ​​Crimes, Economic Crimes, and Narcotics (CEN) police station in Ramnagar. According to the Lokayukta police, Mahesh had demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh from Manje Gowda, a resident of Bengaluru, in exchange for assistance with a three-year-old case registered at the Ramanagara CEN police station. Sensing the severity of the situation, Manje Gowda lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta. Promptly responding to the complaint, the Lokayukta devised a trap, setting it in a party hall in Bangalore. During the operation, Ramesh of Uttarahalli accepted Rs 50,000 from Manje Gowda on behalf of Mahesh, resulting in the duo being caught red-handed. Subsequently, both individuals were taken into custody by the police. The swift action taken by the Lokayukta police demonstrates their commitment to combating corruption and upholding the law, ensuring that those involved in such illegal activities are brought to justice.
