Bribery from contractors, TP Chief, engineer caught in Lokayukta Raid

Kinnigoli Town Panchayat Junior Engineer, Town Panchayat Chief have been caught red-handed by the Lokayukta while accepting bribe for approval of contract work bill.

A PWD Class-1 contractor had executed the contract work for S Kodi Government Lake Development Work under Kinnigoli Town Panchayat in the Fifth Financial Plan of 2022-23. The PWD Class-1 contractor went to Junior Engineer Nagaraju of Kinnigoli Town Panchayat for approval of the bill amounting to Rs 9,77,154. In this case, he was demanded bribe of Rs 37,000, Rs 15,000 to the head of Kinnigoli Town Panchayat.  Also Junior Engineer Nagaraju received Rs 7,000 in advance.  

Lokayukta officials set a trap while Junior Engineer Nagaraju of Kinnigoli Town Panchayat receiving Rs 30,000 and Town Panchayat Chief receiving Rs 15,000 as the remaining bribe amount.  

Kinnigoli Town Panchayat Chief and Junior Engineer demanded in total Rs 52,000 and on Friday they received Rs 45,000. Earlier too, the Junior Engineer had received Rs 7,000 through Google Pay. Karnataka Lokayukta Mangalore Superintendent of Police MA Nataraj has informed that two persons have been arrested in this connection.

Under the guidance of Karnataka Lokayukta   Superintendent of Police MA Nataraj,   Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent Dr Gana P Kumar, Police Inspectors A Amanullah, P Suresh Kumar, KN Chandrasekhar, CL Chandrasekhar conducted the operation with the staff.
