Hyderabad
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislator K. Kavitha on Wednesday led a protest in Hyderabad against state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy’s statement on free power to farmers. Condemning the reported comment by Revanth Reddy that three-hour free power is sufficient for farmers, Kavitha led the protest at Vidyuth Soudha, the headquarters of Telangana Power Transmission and Power Generation Corporations. The member of Legislative Council stated that Telangana is the only state in the country which is providing 24-hour free and quality power to farmers.
Congress party acts like a supporter of farmers. Its leader Rahul Gandhi had come here, he released farmer declaration and made tall promises but their actual approach towards farmers stands exposed in Telangana, she said. Kavitha was leading the protest as part of the statewide two-day demonstrations called by the BRS to oppose Revanth Reddy’s statement. The state Congress president says we will give power only for three hours. Why? Do you think farmers are helpless? KCR and BRS are standing with farmers, said Kavitha.
The BRS leader asked Rahul Gandhi to clarify if this was the stand of his party. If you don’t have an answer, you have no right to come to Telangana and speak to our farmers. We will protect farmers at any cost, she said. Kavitha along with other protesters raised slogans of Congress down down, Jai Telangana and Jai KCR.
