The Karnataka State SC/ST Newspaper Editors Association (RSA) has announced the much-awaited State Level Endowment Awards for 2024, continuing its tradition of honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the media sector. For over 24 years, the association has been at the forefront of protecting the interests of Dalit-owned and edited newspapers, ensuring their representation in the Karnataka Government’s media list, and promoting the participation of Dalits in the news media industry.
The association’s efforts also focus on uplifting the intellectual capacity of Dalits and recognizing journalists who are dedicated to serving marginalized communities. The prestigious State Level Endowment Fund Awards are presented in honor of leaders such as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, former Minister B. Rachaiah, B. Basavalingappa, and Prof. B. Krishnappa.
Among the awards presented is the “Prof. B. Krishnappa Endowment Award,” which is established by the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti to honor those working relentlessly in the social movement for Dalits and the oppressed.
In addition to these major awards, the association will also honor four senior Dalit editors in journalism with the “Sangha Annual Honorary Awards.” The awards will be presented by the Chief Minister at a ceremony held at Gandhi Bhavan in Bengaluru on November 29, 2024.
