Actress Rukmini Vasanth has finished dubbing for her role as Kanakavathi in the much-awaited film Kantara: Chapter 1. She took to social media to share a fun video from the studio, captioning it Kanakavathi Coming Your Way, giving fans a glimpse of the energy she brought while recording.
Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film has been creating a strong buzz since its announcement. Rukmini’s performance is expected to bring more depth and grace to the storyline, adding to the already high anticipation surrounding the project.
Apart from Kantara: Chapter 1, Rukmini is also busy with other big projects. She will be seen alongside Yash in Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, and has also bagged a role in NTRNEEL, Jr NTR’s collaboration with Prashanth Neel.
For those unfamiliar, the original Kantara (2022) was a pan-India blockbuster featuring Rishab Shetty in a dual role, supported by Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, and Achyuth Kumar. The film told the story of a Kambala champion clashing with a forest officer and became a cultural phenomenon.
Serving as a prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set in the era of the Kadambas of Banavasi. Written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, the movie also stars Jayaram in a key role. Rishab is said to be playing a Naga Sadhu with extraordinary powers. The film is slated for release on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
