Divisional Railway Users Advisory Committee Meeting

The Southwest Railways held a meeting with the members of the Divisional Railway Users Advisory Committee on Thursday at the Mysore Railway Manager’s Office auditorium.

The meeting was chaired by Divsional Railway Manager Rahul Agarwal.

 A total of nine members, including representatives from various forums and constituencies and elected members from across the division, participated. The meeting was held throughout the day and various issues relating to the improvement of passenger services within the division were discussed.

In his inaugural address, Rahul Agarwal said that the Mysuru sector’s achievements during the financial years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 were significant, even at a time when the Covid epidemic was affecting the entire world. Several initiatives have been undertaken for the development of infrastructure at various stations throughout the division and the safety and security of passengers has been given high priority and the division is committed to developing and providing better facilities for rail users.

 The committee members discussed various issues such as increasing passenger facilities at Davangere, Harihar and Haveri railway stations, increasing train services from Mysuru to Dadar, Ajmer and Nizamuddin stations from the present weekly and two days a week to four days a week.  In addition to this,  speeding up all super-fast trains between Mysuru-Bangalore, increasing the air-conditioned bogies on the Malgudi Express between Mysuru and Bengaluru, introduction of new rail services from Mysuru to Hassan and Mangaluru connecting the coastal areas,  reopening of all rail services which were stopped during Covid pandemic, from Talaguppa and Shivamogga town to Chennai and towards Mysuru for operation,  introduction of new rail services from Shivamogga station to prominent state capitals of the country such as Secunderabad and Bhuvaneshwar, to expedite the construction of bogie care center at Kotegangur near Shivamogga and other number of measures to be taken up were discussed in the meeting.

Expressing satisfaction with various development works undertaken by the department including cleanliness, launch of special trains, increase of coaches, the members appreciated the efforts made to get sanction for various works including expansion of Mysuru and Naganahalli stations.

Rahul Agarwal assured that all suggestions will be considered and resolved appropriately within the timeframe.

MLA of Gundlupet  CS Niranjan,  General Secretary of Davanagere travellers committee Rohith Kumar S Jain, Secretary of Nanjanagud Industrial Association BS Chandrashekar, Advisor of MMEC Siding Logistics Srinivasamurthy, Honorary treasurer of Mysuru Chambers of Commerce  Mahaveer Chand Bansali, Hassan Distrrict Commerce and Industries committee president M Dhanpal, Shivamogga District Committee of Commerce and Industries director SS Udayakumar, Nominee of Member of Parliament Lakshmisagar Cheluvegowda and Chinnaiah represent the committee.

 Additional Divisional Railway Manager Devasahayam, E Vijaya, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Manjunatha Kanamadi, Senior Divisional operations manager Lohiteshwara, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) K Ravichandran and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
