Nrityanjali 2022 – International Dance Day Celebrations

The biggest national inter-collegiate dance festival, ‘Nrityanjali 2022’ was organized by the Literary and Cultural Association of Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous here on Friday, April 29, 2022. On the occasion of International Dance Day, the prestigious dance event, Nrityanjali 2022, was an apt tribute for dance by the institution.

Shri Mohamed Farouk, Regional Director South, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Nritya Choodamani Vid. Vyjayanthi Kashi, Director, Shambhavi School of Dance, Former Chairperson of Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, were the chief guests for the national dance festival.

More than 20 colleges from across the country participated in the national dance festival and displayed the various dance forms in scintillating performances rendered by the participants.

Delivering the presidential address, Father Dr Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, recollected the journey that ‘Nrityanjali’ had taken from being an intra-collegiate dance festival to a national level flagship dance competition. Welcoming the participants from across the country, Father Principal pointed out without dance, music and extracurricular activities, education will remain incomplete.

Indicating that dance and music are vital for millennial education, Father Principal Augustine, said, “Knowledge, skills, values and attitude are the four pillars on which Kristu Jayanti College is based upon. Bangalore is alive with vibrant cultures and Nrityanjali 2022 is a true celebration of mind, body and soul in dance”. Delivering the inaugural address, Shri. Mohamed Farouk, Regional Director 2 South, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India wished the gathering International Dance Day. “India has rich and diverse culture comprising of 22 languages, 1042 dialects in the country and 147 dance forms. Dance and sports are important forms of activity for good physical health.

Inspired by the growth of Kristu Jayanti College with humble beginning of just nine students to developing to an educational institution of 9,000 students, Vid Vyjayanthi Kashi, applauded the efforts taken by the management. “When you train in dance, one learns the art of mastering it. The expression with eyes, the smile and the confidence, the movements are all part of mastering the art. Dance is simple and natural and it teaches aesthetics.

Dance is a movement, an expression, the rhythm of the body with which emotions can be connected”, added Vid. Vyjayanthi Kashi. The categories in which the students gave entertaining and bright performances were classical solo and group, folk, eastern solo and group, western solo and group and the entire national dance festival Nrityanjali was signed off with a breath – taking dance off competition towards the end.
