Celebrating her 40th birthday, South superstar Nayanthara unveiled the teaser of her upcoming period-action drama, ‘Rakkayie’, directed by debutant Senthil Nallasamy. The teaser, shared on her Instagram on Monday, hints at an intense storyline filled with action, emotions, and gripping drama.
In ‘Rakkayie’, Nayanthara portrays a strong and commanding character, promising a powerful performance. Produced by Drumstick Productions and Movieverse Studios, the film features music by Govind Vasantha and cinematography by Gautham Rajendran.
The teaser release comes amid controversy surrounding Nayanthara and actor Dhanush. Recently, she addressed an open letter accusing Dhanush of preventing her from using footage from their 2015 film, ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’, for her upcoming Netflix wedding documentary.
In the letter, Nayanthara alleged Dhanush demanded ₹10 crore for a three-second clip from the film, which he co-produced under the Wunderbar Films banner. She expressed disappointment, calling the demand a “low” move and accusing him of harboring a personal grudge against her and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.
Addressing her struggles as a self-made actor, Nayanthara wrote, “I owe my position to my work ethic, the goodwill of the audience, and the support of my film fraternity.”
