Four-time Emmy winner Peter Dinklage, who voices Dr. Dillamond in the upcoming film adaptation of ‘Wicked’, believes the story connects deeply because everyone feels like an outsider at some point.
Reflecting on his role, Dinklage said, “Recording alone in a sound booth was a solitary process, but being part of something so beloved and creative is an honor. My daughter loves the Broadway show and has watched it five times, making it a favorite for her and her friends.”
He emphasized the musical’s themes of independence and kindness. “It’s about finding strength in isolation and, above all, spreading kindness—something we all need.”
Directed by Jon M. Chu, ‘Wicked’ explores the untold story of the witches of Oz. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman with green skin discovering her inner power, while Ariana Grande plays Glinda. The cast also includes Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University, where Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship begins before their paths diverge.
Dinklage revealed his personal connection to Elphaba’s journey of self-discovery. “Her story of embracing her uniqueness resonates with me. As an actor, I’ve turned my physical differences into a source of strength. Now, when people notice me, it’s because they appreciate my work, and that’s empowering.”
The much-anticipated adaptation of the Broadway classic will release in India on November 22 in English, distributed by Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery.
