External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar continued his productive visit to Australia by meeting with CEOs and business leaders in Sydney on Thursday. He shared his positive experience on social media, describing the meeting as a great start to the day. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with officials from the Business Council of Australia, emphasizing the potential for strengthening business and investment ties between India and Australia.
During the discussions, Jaishankar highlighted India’s ongoing transformations in digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and skills development, underscoring the natural complementarities between the two nations to support each other’s growth.
Earlier, Jaishankar participated in the ‘Raisina Down Under’ event, a key component of India’s Raisina Dialogue, and inaugurated a new Indian consulate in Brisbane, marking a milestone in the deepening bilateral relationship. He acknowledged the contributions of the Indian diaspora in Australia, referring to them as a “living bridge” that has strengthened ties across various sectors, including academia, research, business, and healthcare.
Jaishankar also met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra, where both leaders discussed the growing India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In addition, Jaishankar interacted with the Australian India Parliamentary Friendship Group and New Zealand’s Deputy PM Winston Peters to discuss education, technology, and people-to-people ties.
