Wayanad
On Thursday, election officials seized food kits with images of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the Tholpatty area, near the home of local Congress leader Sasikumar Tholpatty. The kits were reportedly being distributed to voters in the region. A local CPI-M youth wing leader accused Congress of using the food kits as an attempt to influence voters, but Congress leaders denied these claims. They firmly stated that their party does not engage in such tactics to win elections.
Priyanka Gandhi, who arrived in Kerala on Sunday, has been actively campaigning in Wayanad, addressing over five rallies a day, particularly attracting large numbers of women voters. The election campaign will end on November 11, with voting scheduled for November 13.
In the 2019 general elections, Rahul Gandhi secured a victory in Wayanad with a margin of 4.60 lakh votes, which dropped to 3.64 lakh in 2024. Although he vacated the seat for Raebareli, Congress nominated Priyanka Gandhi for the Wayanad bypolls, where she faces CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas. Wayanad consists of seven Assembly constituencies across three districts: Wayanad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode. Of these, four are held by Congress-led UDF, while the remaining three are divided between CPI-M and an independent.
