Indian cricket star and team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has made headlines as the only Indian player shortlisted for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Team of the Decade. Cricket Australia released the 50-player shortlist on Thursday, celebrating standout players from the WBBL’s first ten seasons.
To qualify, players had to have participated in at least 60 WBBL matches. A selection panel, along with fan voting, will narrow the list to a 12-player lineup to be unveiled at the WBBL 10 final on December 1. Public voting will run from November 11-24 through the Big Bash App, with these votes carrying equal weight alongside the panel’s choices.
The selection panel is chaired by Cricket Australia Director Clea Smith, with cricket personalities Mel Jones, Lisa Sthalekar, Matthew Mott, Quentin Hull, Laura Jolly, and Alistair Dobson.
The final 12-player team will honor the best talents from the league’s decade-long history, though the final lineup will be limited to a maximum of three international players. Alongside Kaur, the shortlist includes prominent players like Sophie Devine, Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry, Meg Lanning, and Beth Mooney.
This nomination highlights Kaur’s outstanding contributions to the WBBL, reinforcing her impact on global women’s cricket.
