Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inspected the under-construction ‘Himachal Niketan’ in Dwarka, New Delhi on Friday evening. This five-story building, costing approximately Rs 57.72 crore, aims to provide accommodation for Himachali students and residents visiting the capital. During his visit, Sukhu instructed officials to ensure the project is completed on time.

Earlier that day, Sukhu met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss various issues affecting residents in border areas, particularly the need to enhance road infrastructure for strategically important routes. The Defence Minister promised full cooperation from the central government.

Later, Sukhu also met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss ongoing road, bridge, and ropeway projects in Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister requested significant central support and presented proposals for four new road projects, emphasizing that a strong road network is crucial for tourism and the state’s overall development.

Sukhu suggested that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) consider tunneling in suitable areas to lower maintenance costs. He also urged a review of the Solan-Parwanoo road alignment to address safety concerns and requested the four-laning of remaining sections of the Shimla-Mataur national highway. The Union Minister assured his support for these initiatives.
