Haveri
Residents of the assembly segment are expressing feelings of humiliation and neglect as their elected representative, MLA and Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani, remains unreachable during a period of severe rainfall. In a bold move, a group of constituents reserved a train ticket for Lamani from Bengaluru to Haveri and shared it on social media, suggesting he might be unaware of the hardships faced or lacks the resources to travel.
The relentless rain has caused significant damage, tragically resulting in the drowning of a 12-year-old boy and devastating thousands of hectares of crops. Amidst this crisis, Lamani’s absence has sparked deep disappointment and frustration, with residents feeling abandoned for 15 consecutive days, as noted by local resident Abhishek Uppin.
Sources indicate that Lamani is currently on an official trip to Germany, followed by a visit to Delhi. In response to the criticism, Sanjeev Neeralagi, District Congress Committee President, stated that party leaders are in touch with constituents and dismissed the social media posts as publicity stunts.
