Police shoot assailant in the leg, save kidnapped children

In a swift operation, Athani police successfully rescued two young children who had been abducted from their home. The incident occurred near the Maharashtra border in Athani Taluk. Following a prompt response, three suspects were arrested.
The accused were identified as Ravikirana Kamlakar from Chikkodi taluk, Shahrukh Sheikh from Bihar, and Samba Kamble from Kolhapur. They allegedly broke into the home of Vijay Desai and abducted his 4 and 3-year-old children.
Upon receiving the report, police formed three teams and located the kidnappers on the Kohli Sindhur Marg. During the confrontation, one suspect was shot in the leg by police in self-defense while attempting to flee. He is currently receiving treatment at Athani Taluk Hospital.
Two police officers, Jamir Dange and Ramesh Hadimani, sustained injuries during the operation and are being treated at Athani Community Hospital. The safe return of the children brought relief to their anxious parents.
Investigations revealed that the abduction was linked to a financial dispute involving Vijay Desai, who had failed to return Rs 4 crore to investors after promising to double their money. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
