Anganwadi workers are community doctors: MLC Dr Dhananjaya Sarji

MLC Dr. Dhananjaya Sarji commended Anganwadi workers for their vital roles as healthcare providers and caregivers during the inauguration of a virtual training program focused on Ayurveda’s role in children’s health and development. He emphasized that while doctors treat illnesses, Anganwadi and Asha workers play a crucial preventive role by caring for women and children before health issues arise.
Dr. Sarji highlighted the importance of educating these community health workers about nutrition and health management, stating that the training aims to equip them with essential knowledge. He stressed the need for a strong foundation in early childhood development, particularly for children aged 3 to 6, and noted that adequate sleep is crucial for health.
Dr. Jyoti Lakshmi from the AYUSH Department described Anganwadi workers as versatile individuals managing multiple responsibilities. BH Krishnappa, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, mentioned that 2,400 Anganwadi workers and 80 supervisors are participating in this training initiative under the guidance of the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer.
The event was attended by various officials, including District AYUSH Officer Dr. Lingaraj and Narrative Officer Dr. Santosh Kumar.
