J-K LG Manoj Sinha honors soldiers, porters killed in Baramulla attack

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored the soldiers and porters who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in the Butapathri area of Gulmarg, Baramulla district on Friday. He paid tribute to Rifleman Jeevan Singh, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah, and Defence Porters Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdary and Zahoor Ahmad Mir, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice for the nation. India will always remember their selfless service. We stand with the grieving families, Sinha stated in a post on X.

The attack, which occurred on October 24, resulted in the deaths of two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters after terrorists targeted a military vehicle. One soldier and one porter sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment, according to Indian Army officials.

The Chinar Corps, based in Srinagar, reported on X that a brief firefight broke out between the Indian Army and the terrorists in the Butapathri area, leading to the casualties.

Additionally, on the same day, a labourer named Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh was shot and injured by terrorists in Batgund Tral, Pulwama district. Just days earlier, on October 20, a terrorist attack at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal claimed the lives of a doctor and six construction workers.
