The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has released its fifth list of candidates in preparation for the upcoming Jharkhand elections, scheduled for November 13 and 20. Former BJP vice president Lois Marandi will contest from the Jama seat, reserved for Scheduled Castes, as announced in a press release.

JMM General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey confirmed that the fifth list is part of the party’s strategy for the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly General Election 2024. Other candidates announced include Ganesh Mehli for the Saraikela seat and Ramsurya Munda for Khunti.

On October 24, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren filed his nomination and criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, labeling him a ‘Pravaasi CM’ who would leave the state after the elections. Soren emphasized the temporary nature of such leaders, stating that they will ‘disappear’ after a few days.

Additionally, Kalpana Soren, a JMM leader and Hemant Soren’s wife, filed her nomination from the Gandey constituency, which she currently represents. The JMM had previously released its first list of 35 candidates on October 23. Vote counting is set for November 23.
