Melbourne
Cricket Victoria and St Kilda Cricket Club have officially renamed a grandstand at Melbourne’s Junction Oval after the legendary spinner Shane Warne on Friday. This tribute honors Warne’s incredible contributions to cricket, particularly his ties to Victoria and St Kilda, where he played at state and club levels.
The stand, which has been a part of Junction Oval since 1925, was renamed in a ceremony attended by Warne’s daughters, Summer and Brooke, and his father Keith. Previously named after Australian footballer Kevin Murray, the stand now commemorates Warne, one of cricket’s most iconic figures.
In addition to the renamed stand, Cricket Victoria also launched a Shane Warne exhibition at their administration and high-performance center, showcasing memorabilia from Warne’s illustrious career.
