Rishabh Pant has moved up to sixth place in the ICC Test rankings for batters on Wednesday, surpassing his teammate Virat Kohli after scoring an impressive 99 against New Zealand. Kohli, who made 70 in the same match, has dropped to eighth position.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is still India’s highest-ranked batter, sitting at fourth. Captain Rohit Sharma has fallen to joint 15th place. England’s Joe Root continues to lead the rankings.
In addition to Pant’s ascent, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra made a significant jump, rising 36 spots to 18th, while Devon Conway advanced 12 places to 36th. On the bowling front, Matt Henry climbed two positions to ninth after taking eight wickets in New Zealand’s eight-wicket victory over India. Will O’Rourke also improved his ranking, moving to 39th after claiming seven wickets in the same match.
Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has re-entered the rankings at 17th after taking 11 wickets across two innings against England, while Sajid Khan made a notable leap, rising 22 places to 50th after being named Player of the Match.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top of the bowling rankings, followed by R. Ashwin in second place and Ravindra Jadeja holding the seventh position.
