Karnataka’s martial artists brought glory to India by securing gold and bronze medals at the UWMAF and ICO World Karate Championships, held from October 11 to 13, 2024, in Frankfurt, Germany. The event, hosted at Kalbach Indoor Stadium, showcased the talent of Karnataka’s athletes, making it a proud moment for the state’s sports community.

Veteran coach Renshi Raman Ganesh, a respected figure in Bengaluru’s karate scene, won a bronze medal in the +45 Veterans Kata category. With a long history of training students across Karnataka, Raman Ganesh’s accomplishment adds another feather to his cap. He currently serves as the General Secretary of the Sports Karate Association of Karnataka and Vice President of the All-India Karate-Do Federation.

Accompanying him was 16-year-old Pranav VH from Jain College, VV Puram, who clinched the gold medal in the 16-17 years junior Kata event. Pranav’s win is attributed to the guidance of Renshi Pushpa, a veteran coach who has trained over 1,000 girls in the state, and Deputy Chief Coach Sensei E.N. Ramya.

Their participation was supported by Kyoshi PR. Ramessh, an 8th Dan Black Belt holder, and Vikram Kapoor, UWMAF Asia Head. The achievements at the international level reflect the ongoing efforts to advance karate in India, a mission promoted by the All-India Karate-Do Federation for more than 35 years. The Karnataka karate community hailed the success as a major step forward, inspiring future athletes to pursue excellence in martial arts.
