For the first time, Uttar Pradesh is all set to host a football league as exciting as the Indian Super League (ISL). The Uttar Pradesh Super League (UPSL) will debut in March-April 2025, bringing together football enthusiasts, young talents, and professional players from across the state for a thrilling competition.
Matches will take place at the Greater Noida Stadium and the KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow, according to a press release by UPSL. Organized under the Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh, the league aims to promote football in the state, aligning with CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision for sports development.
The league will feature eight franchise teams, with a player auction set to take place for local talents. Teams will have the opportunity to bid for the best footballers from the region. Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh’s Honorary Secretary, Mohd Shahid, shared that the league’s blueprint follows the ISL model, and preparations for commercial rights and event management are already in place, entrusted to 100 Sports.
