Australian bowler Megan Schutt made history by becoming the leading wicket-taker in the Women’s T20 World Cup. She achieved this milestone during a match against New Zealand, claiming her first wicket and surpassing South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail with a total of 46 wickets from 26 innings.

Currently, Schutt is tied with Pakistan’s Nida Dar as the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20 cricket, with both players having taken 143 wickets in their careers. In the match, Australia’s strong batting lineup, along with the exceptional performance of their all-rounders, helped them secure a 60-run victory over the Kiwis. Schutt stood out with impressive bowling figures of 3/3 in just over three overs.

Teammate Beth Mooney praised Schutt’s consistent excellence, stating, Megan Schutt has been outstanding for us, not just in the last two games but throughout her whole career. She knows the impact she can have, and we see the difference she makes in our lineup.

Schutt herself acknowledged her straightforward approach to the game, saying that she is pretty low-maintenance. She believes that if the basics are focused on, like keeping the stumps in play, they can succeed on these slower pitches. Her contributions continue to be crucial for the Australian team’s success.
