Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, known for her recent appearance in the streaming film ‘Kakuda’, has praised OTT platforms for allowing actors to explore characters more deeply.
Sonakshi has ventured into two OTT shows so far: the gritty ‘Dahaad’ and the period drama ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. Her portrayal in ‘Heeramandi’ won her the Best Actress award at a recent ceremony, marking the second consecutive year she has received this honor, having previously won for ‘Dahaad’.
Reflecting on the achievement, Sonakshi said, Winning this award two years in a row is incredibly humbling. OTT platforms offer diverse and powerful roles, giving actors like me the chance to push boundaries and grow.
The actress also shared her thoughts on working across OTT and cinema. OTT has been a game-changer. The roles are more complex and challenging compared to commercial films, which often focus on mass entertainment. The depth offered by OTT allows us to truly connect with audiences, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the love I’ve received on both platforms.
She also discussed her process of getting into character, saying, For me, the character comes alive once I’m on set, in front of the camera. It’s hard to explain, but a vivid imagination helps a lot. Sonakshi is excited to continue being part of the digital revolution, where content truly reigns supreme.
