Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has announced that legal action will be taken against Tahsildars who do not actively process Bagair Hukum applications. During a video conference with Tahsildars and Assistant Commissioners, he stated that delays in the disposal of these applications are unacceptable. A deadline of two months has been set for all Tahsildars, extending until the end of October and November. If applications are not properly disposed of and land allotment to eligible farmers is not completed by then, notices will be issued to the Tahsildars, and legal action will follow.
The government is committed to granting land to eligible landless farmers. Applications for Bagair Hukum under the regularization scheme were invited when the Congress government came to power. For the past year, visits have been made to various districts, and officials have been instructed to prioritize Bagair Hukum-related work. However, some officials have been uncooperative and have shown reluctance to assist farmers.
The Minister questioned the reasons for the delay in processing these applications. He noted that around 14 lakh applications have been submitted under Forms 50, 53, and 57, with most being ineligible. Officials have been urged to promptly reject ineligible applications and focus on granting land to eligible applicants in October and November. Another video conference will be held at the end of this month to review the progress made.
