New Delhi
Manchester City recently wrapped up their Delhi leg of the ‘Champions 4-in-a-row’ Trophy Tour, which showcased the Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Community Shield trophies. During their visit, City legend Shaun Wright-Phillips engaged with fans, and the club held several events aimed at fostering community involvement and promoting football.
One of the highlights was a coaching day in Delhi, where local coaches and volunteers participated in workshops and football drills to learn Manchester City’s coaching techniques. The activities emphasized adaptability and cross-learning in community coaching. Wright-Phillips also visited Sultanpuri to support the ‘Healthy Heroes’ project, a collaboration between Manchester City, Etihad Airways, and Magic Bus India Foundation. The initiative aims to empower underprivileged adolescents through sports, helping them develop life skills and pursue education.
The tour ended with a fan event at Vegas Mall, where supporters could take photos with the trophies, engage in football activities, and watch Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal on a big screen. Shaun Wright-Phillips, on his third visit to India but first to Delhi, expressed his admiration for the passionate local fans.
Following the successful stop in Delhi, the Trophy Tour is now heading to Kolkata, marking the next stage of its journey across India.
