As seat-sharing discussions intensify among MahaYuti partners, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Maharashtra for two days starting September 24. His visit aims to finalize seat allocations for the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Shah will meet with key BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. He plans to visit Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, and Kolhapur to oversee the negotiations and expedite an agreement, as the BJP hopes to announce its first list of 60 to 70 candidates around Dussehra, on October 12. Both Shiv Sena and NCP are also eager to reveal their candidate lists around the same time.
CM Shinde has indicated that the elections may occur in the second week of November, with the Election Commission expected to announce the schedule around October 10. Prior to Shah’s visit, the state BJP core committee will meet on September 23 to discuss seat preferences and review election preparations across over 99,000 booths.
BJP officials report that 70% of the seats have been tentatively agreed upon, though there are tensions regarding the allocation of the remaining seats. Shah is prepared to mediate if disputes arise, emphasizing the importance of unity among the MahaYuti partners.
HM vows to expel illegal B’deshi immigrants at J’khand rally
Sahibganj
At a rally in Sahibganj, Jharkhand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah pledged to remove Bangladeshi infiltrators if the BJP wins power in the state. This event launched the ‘Parivartan Yatra,’ aimed at unseating the current government and promoting development under a BJP-led administration.
Shah criticized the Hemant Soren government for allegedly protecting illegal immigrants and claimed it was the most corrupt in history, citing scams in MGNREGA, land, mining, and liquor totaling over Rs 2,600 crore. He stated that the government’s failure to fulfill promises, like creating five lakh jobs and providing financial support to widows, shows its inadequacy.
He raised concerns about anti-Hindu slogans in Pakur district and stressed that only a BJP government could protect the state’s interests. Shah welcomed the Jharkhand High Court’s order on illegal immigration and announced plans to form a committee to address the issue. He also highlighted employment concerns and vowed strict action against exam paper leaks. Other BJP leaders attended the rally as well.
