Sexual assault case accused Vijay Babu names the survivor, claims he is the ‘victim’

The Kerala Police has registered a case against Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu for an alleged sexual assault. According to the police, they received the complaint on April 22, by a woman who alleged that she has been assaulted by Vijay Babu in a flat in Kochi, repeatedly, in the pretext of offering her roles in movies.

Following the allegation, Vijay Babu took to his social media, named the complainant and claimed that he is the ‘victim’ in the case. On Tuesday (Apr 26), around midnight, Vijay Babu put a post on Facebook, that read, “I am coming live in 10 min. Those who wants to listen can listen to the truth. Evide “era “ nan aanu … so I will tell the truth. I will disclose the name of the person who put case on me. aa case nan fight cheyyan ready aanu.” In the note, he conveyed about going live in a few minutes to disclose the name of the complainant and also declared that he is ready to fight the case. In the wee hours of Wednesday (Apr 27), Vijay Babu went live on Facebook and during the session, he disclosed the identity of the victim. Disclosing the identity of victims of certain offences (including sexual) is punishable as per law.

Vijay Babu claimed that he has done nothing wrong, and hence he is the ‘victim’ in the case, and also added that he will be filing a defamation case and a counter case against the complainant. He further stated that he has known the complainant since 2018, however, haven’t chatted with her until recently. He went on to add that the complainant had contacted him of late and expressed that she was depressed. And according to Vijay Babu, he has over 400 screenshots of the messages she has sent from last December to March.


Vijay Babu repeatedly disclosed the identity of the complainant, claiming that let it be a ‘new chapter in #MeToo’.
