Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola remains unfazed by his team’s strong start to the 2024/25 Premier League season. City, aiming for their fifth straight league title, extended their unbeaten run to four games after a 2-1 victory over Brentford. However, Guardiola believes setbacks are inevitable.

We will drop points eventually, Guardiola said, acknowledging the team’s good fortune in recent matches. He highlighted the importance of learning from each game, mentioning Erling Haaland’s deflected goal and the challenges they faced during the Brentford match.

Despite a tough start, with Yoane Wissa scoring in the first minute, City quickly bounced back. Haaland’s brace gave them the lead, which they defended to maintain their winning streak.

Looking ahead, City will kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign against Inter Milan. This season marks the introduction of a new format, replacing the group stage with a 36-team league phase. Each team will play eight games against different opponents, with the top eight advancing to the knockout stages.

When asked about the new format, Guardiola said, we have to adapt. More games, but it is what it is. We’ll play the best team in Italy and then face another contender soon after. I enjoy the Champions League, so we’ll be ready.
