A report released on Friday reveals that 51% of GenZ professionals in India fear job loss, and 40% worry about securing positions in their preferred fields. Despite these concerns, GenZ has clear career priorities.
According to the report by talent engagement and hiring platform Unstop, 77% of GenZ professionals prioritize the role or company brand over salary. Specifically, 43% seek hands-on experience and growth opportunities, while 72% consider job satisfaction more important than salary. Work-life balance is also crucial, with 47% of GenZ citing it as a key factor when evaluating potential employers.
GenZ professionals prefer a workday that allows them to complete routine tasks efficiently and have time for skill-building and productivity without feeling overwhelmed. Ankit Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Unstop, noted that GenZ views work as an integral part of life, pushing for a work environment that is meaningful rather than monotonous.
The report also highlights a disconnect between GenZ’s motivations and HR perceptions. While 78% of GenZs switch jobs for career growth, 71% of HR professionals assume it is primarily for better pay. Additionally, 27% of HR leaders do not see supporting employee mental health as part of their role, even though only 25% of GenZs prioritize money when changing jobs.
