Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has expressed excitement over the upcoming head-to-head battle between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Scheduled to kick off on November 22 with the first Test in Perth, this series will feature two of the world’s top batters, Kohli and Smith, who are both considered among the ‘Fab Four’ of modern cricket, alongside Joe Root and Kane Williamson.

Maxwell, who has not played Test cricket since 2017, told to source, ‘The contest between Steve Smith and Virat Kohli is going to be thrilling. Their performance could be crucial in deciding who takes home the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both players are exceptional, and it will be fascinating to see which of them makes a bigger impact on the series.’

Smith, with 9,685 runs in 109 Tests at an average of 56.97, has scored 32 centuries and is renowned for his consistency. Kohli, on the other hand, has amassed 8,848 runs in 113 Tests at an average of 49.15, with 29 centuries. Kohli’s performance in Australia has been impressive, and he has scored 1,352 runs at an average of 54.08 across 13 Tests there.

The series will feature a day-night Test at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10, followed by matches at The Gabba, Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Sydney Cricket Ground, culminating in a thrilling finale.
