Youth dies after slipping into canal

In an incident, a youth died after slipping and falling into a canal near Kari Masuti lift irrigation canal at Halyala in Athani taluk. The deceased has been identified as Shivaraya Mallappa Kamble (21), a resident of Halyala village in Athani taluk. Along with two friends, they went to the toilet on the canal early in the morning. When he tried to fetch water for the toilet, Shivaraya slipped and fell into the canal. Shivaraya, who could not swim, drowned in the gushing water and the body of the deceased youth was found. A case has been registered at Athani police station in this regard.
