The University of Agricultural Sciences is preparing to host the Krishi Mela-2024 from September 21 to 24, with the theme focused on agricultural technologies for managing climate change.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. PL Patil stated that the primary goal of the event is to disseminate information on agricultural technologies to a large number of farmers efficiently. Approximately 14-16 lakh farmers are expected to attend the four-day event. For the first time, a QR code will be used for participant registration.

The mela will feature a wide array of exhibits, including over 150 hi-tech stalls, 214 economy stalls, 110 agricultural machinery stalls, 27 tractor and heavy machinery stalls, and 28 food stalls. Key attractions will include displays on cropping systems for climate change management, integrated crop management, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, oilseeds, pulses, and rabi crop technologies.

Additional features will include rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, natural and organic farming, soil conservation, hi-tech horticulture, fruit and flower displays, insect exhibits, improved farm implements, and Kisan drones. The event will also focus on agroforestry, fodder crop technologies, animal husbandry, livestock exhibitions, value addition, secondary agriculture, and community science technologies.

A seed mela for distributing quality seeds for rabi cultivation will also be held. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Krishi Mela on September 22 and will present best farmer awards.

For the first time, the University has received a government license for the mass production and sale of bio-fertilizers. The mela will offer 2,500 kg of powder bio-fertilizers, 2,625 liters of liquid bio-fertilizers, and 1,665 kg of bio-pesticides for sale, as informed by Prof. PL Patil.
