On Tuesday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced that India has sent a second shipment of aid to Myanmar as part of Operation Sadbhav. The relief effort follows the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi. The latest aid includes 32 tons of relief supplies, such as generators, hygiene kits, temporary shelters, water purification materials, and medicines, delivered by the Indian Air Force. Additionally, the Indian Navy has dispatched 10 tons of ration to support those affected.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar revealed that under Operation Sadbhav, India has also provided humanitarian aid to Vietnam and Laos. The Indian Air Force used its C-17 Globemaster aircraft to deliver 35 tons of aid to Vietnam, including water purification items, blankets, and solar lanterns, in response to severe flooding caused by the same typhoon.

The aid efforts reflect India’s commitment to supporting countries impacted by natural disasters. As reported, Typhoon Yagi has resulted in at least 236 confirmed deaths and left 77 people missing in Myanmar, with the toll potentially rising, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
